Lucy & Ashley’s Outdoor Wedding at Stretton Manor Barn
Lucy & Ashley's wedding at Stretton Manor Barn was a wonderful example of how a carefully chosen colour palette and thoughtful styling can transform a space while still allowing the venue's character to shine through.
As a recommended supplier at Stretton Manor Barn, Sparkle Event Styling always enjoys returning to this Derbyshire venue. Its flexible spaces work beautifully for both indoor and outdoor celebrations, and Lucy & Ashley made the most of every part of it on a beautiful sunny day.
Captured by Martin Cheung Photography, their wedding combined warm burnt orange tones with softer natural textures, creating a look that felt elegant, relaxed and perfectly suited to the barn setting.

Outdoor Ceremony Styling
The couple chose to hold their ceremony outside, making the most of the sunshine and countryside surroundings. Guests were welcomed to a ceremony space that felt warm and inviting from the moment they arrived.
At the front stood a wooden arch, styled with flowing burnt orange drapes and a cluster of dried flowers positioned in one corner. The asymmetrical design added interest while keeping the overall look simple and balanced. Against the backdrop of the venue, the warm terracotta tones created a beautiful focal point for Lucy & Ashley's vows.
The aisle was lined with dried pampas grass arranged in Demi-John’s, adding texture and softness without overwhelming the space. The natural tones worked perfectly alongside the burnt orange accents used throughout the day.
Adding to the atmosphere was the music of James Roscoe, whose piano performance provided the perfect soundtrack as guests took their seats and the ceremony unfolded.
The bridal party complemented the styling beautifully, with bridesmaids wearing burnt orange dresses that tied seamlessly into the overall colour palette.
Wedding Breakfast Styling
Following the ceremony, guests moved indoors for the wedding breakfast, where the styling continued in a way that felt cohesive while responding to the character of the barn.
Long banquet tables filled the room, creating a sociable and relaxed layout that suited the venue perfectly. Running through the centre of each table was an olive green fabric runner, introducing a softer colour that balanced the richer burnt orange tones used elsewhere.
Place settings combined natural textures with elegant details. Each guest was welcomed by a raffia placemat topped with a rounded-corner square plate. Sitting on each setting was a small favour alongside a beautifully handwritten sage place name by Inviting Writing, adding a personal touch to every seat.
The table styling was intentionally layered but not overcrowded. Glass amber bud vases filled with dried foliage were placed along the tables, interspersed with bronze tealight holders that added warmth and depth as the day moved into the evening.
Gold candlesticks holders holding white tapered candles introduced height and elegance, helping to draw the eye along the length of the tables while maintaining a relaxed feel.
Chairs were dressed simply with burnt orange chair sashes tied with delicate ivory ribbon. It was a small detail, but one that helped carry the colour palette throughout the room and connect the ceremony and reception styling.
Making the Most of Your Styling
One of our favourite details from Lucy & Ashley's wedding was the way key styling pieces were reused throughout the day. The wooden ceremony arch was carefully relocated and positioned behind the top table, creating a beautiful backdrop for speeches and photographs.
Not only did this ensure visual continuity between the ceremony and wedding breakfast, but it also allowed the couple to make the most of a statement piece they had already invested in.
A Warm and Welcoming Celebration
Lucy & Ashley's wedding demonstrated how effective a clear colour palette can be when carried consistently throughout a day. Burnt orange, sage green, natural textures and soft candlelight combined to create a look that felt considered, welcoming and perfectly suited to Stretton Manor Barn.
From the outdoor ceremony accompanied by live piano music to the candlelit wedding breakfast inside the barn, every detail worked together to create a celebration that felt effortlessly cohesive and unmistakably personal.
