The Woodlands at Hothorpe Hall: A Woodland Wedding Venue
When couples hear the name Hothorpe Hall, they often picture the grand country house. While the two venues share the same estate, The Woodlands at Hothorpe Hall is a completely different experience.
Designed for couples who love the outdoors and want a wedding surrounded by nature, The Woodlands combines rustic charm with contemporary interiors. It feels relaxed without sacrificing style, making it one of our favourite Leicestershire wedding venues to work at.
As wedding stylists, we love that the venue gives you a beautiful blank canvas while still allowing the woodland setting to take centre stage.

A Woodland Ceremony Like No Other
The outdoor ceremony space is undoubtedly one of the highlights of The Woodlands.
Hidden amongst the trees, the timber gazebo already feels beautifully at home in its surroundings, so it doesn't need excessive styling. Instead, we always recommend enhancing what's already there.
Flowing drapes soften the wooden structure and naturally frame your vows without distracting from the woodland backdrop. Adding foliage, either fresh or faux, creates even more connection with the surrounding trees while keeping the styling elegant and understated.
To complete the look, lanterns with LED candles lining the aisle help guide your guests towards the ceremony space. They add warmth, structure and a subtle sense of occasion, particularly if you're marrying later in the day.
Indoor Ceremonies That Still Feel Connected to Nature
If the British weather has other ideas, or you simply prefer an indoor ceremony, The Woodlands has an excellent alternative.
The indoor ceremony room is surrounded by windows that look directly onto the trees, creating the feeling that you're still immersed in the woodland. Because of this, many of the same styling ideas work beautifully inside too.
A simple backdrop of draping, lanterns and foliage complements the views rather than competing with them, creating a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors.
Drinks Reception
Following the ceremony, guests can enjoy drinks either outside amongst the woodland setting or inside the stylish bar area.
This is often where your welcome sign, cake table and present table are displayed, so it's worth giving these areas some attention when planning your styling.
A beautifully styled welcome sign creates the perfect first impression, while adding a few lanterns, foliage or candles around your cake and gift tables helps them feel like part of the overall design rather than standalone features.
These are often the spaces guests naturally gather around, making them well worth including in your styling plans.
A Modern Blank Canvas for Your Wedding Breakfast
The wedding breakfast room offers a complete contrast to the woodland ceremony space.
Modern, bright and wonderfully versatile, it's a true blank canvas that allows your chosen styling to completely transform the room.
Large windows flood the space with natural light throughout the day, making it perfect for soft, neutral colour palettes, fresh florals and elegant glassware that catches the light beautifully.
For autumn and winter weddings especially, The Woodlands lends itself surprisingly well to darker styling. Rich fabrics, deep coloured table runners, black or forest green napkins, candlelight and layered textures create an atmospheric setting that feels warm and intimate as daylight begins to fade.
A Venue That Lets Your Styling Shine
One of the reasons we enjoy styling weddings at The Woodlands at Hothorpe Hall is its flexibility.
Whether you're planning a rustic woodland celebration, a contemporary wedding with elegant details or something completely unique, the venue gives you the freedom to create a day that feels personal without ever feeling overwhelming.
The woodland ceremony space provides natural beauty in abundance, while the reception room offers the perfect blank canvas to bring your vision to life.
If you're searching for a Leicestershire wedding venue that combines the beauty of the countryside with flexible spaces for your ceremony and reception, The Woodlands at Hothorpe Hall is certainly one to visit. As wedding stylists, it's a venue we always look forward to returning to.
